Abstract
This paper reports a framework for the effective use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) by mathematics teachers. Informed by the findings of a rapid literature review, the framework outlines the knowledge, skills, dispositions and conditions that support the effective use of GenAI. The preliminary framework provides immediate implications for the development of pre-service and in-service professional learning that aims to support mathematics teachers to work effectively with GenAI for teaching and learning.
